Clear answers to our most common questions about international pet travel and how we work. If you’re just starting out or planning your next trip, you’ll find the essentials here.
Getting Started
-
To get started, we need a few key details: where you are traveling, when you plan to leave, and basic information about your pet such as age, breed, and vaccination status. This allows us to check entry requirements, confirm realistic timelines, and understand whether your trip is feasible as planned. From there, we can get started!
-
Timing varies widely by destination and by your pet’s vaccination history. Some countries can be prepared for in as little as 30 days, while others require several months of advance planning. Once you share your destination and dates, we’ll be upfront about how much time is needed and whether your timeline is workable.
-
We support most dog breeds. However, some airlines have breed specific restrictions or limitations, particularly for snub nosed breeds. If this applies to your pet, we’ll explain the restrictions clearly and walk you through any alternative options that may be available.
-
Yes, we work with cats as well as dogs. Requirements for other animals vary significantly by country and species. If you are traveling with a pet other than a dog or cat, share your details and we’ll let you know what is possible based on destination rules.
-
That’s very common. The easiest place to start is by sharing your trip details. We’ll look at your destination, timing, and how involved you want to be in the process, then recommend the service tier that makes the most sense for your situation.
Travel Requirements
-
Requirements vary by country, but most trips include a microchip, rabies vaccination, and an official health certificate. Some destinations require additional forms or approvals. Once we review your destination, we outline exactly what’s needed and in what order.
-
Timing depends on the destination and your pet’s vaccination history. Some countries require vaccines to be completed 21–30 days before arrival; others require additional testing or longer waiting periods. We’ll map out the exact timing for your destination.
-
Yes – your destination sets entry requirements, while airlines have their own rules for carriers, size limits, breed policies, and documentation. Both must be followed. We review airline and country requirements side by side so there are no conflicts.
-
Some high-risk destinations require a rabies antibody blood test, followed by a mandatory waiting period before travel is allowed. If this applies to your destination, we explain the process clearly and build it into your timeline.
-
In-cabin travel depends on airline policies, carrier size limits, and your pet’s size and weight. Not all airlines allow in-cabin pets on international routes. We review your options based on your pet and the airlines that operate your route so you know what is realistically possible.
Working Together
-
We review your destination, travel dates, and pet details to confirm what’s required and whether your timeline is feasible. From there, we recommend the service tier that fits your needs and explain next steps before any work begins.
-
Each tier offers a different level of involvement, from guided preparation to full coordination. You can review detailed inclusions on our Services page, or ask us to walk you through the differences if you’re unsure.
-
Email is our primary method of communication. It allows us to keep instructions, documents, and updates clearly organized. Full Service Concierge clients also receive day of travel WhatsApp support.

That depends on your tier. With Guided Travel Prep, you coordinate appointments and communication while we provide guidance and review your work. With a Co-Pilot Concierge, we help you prepare exactly what to request. With Full Service Concierge, we communicate directly with clinics and travel providers on your behalf.
-
Timelines vary by destination and your pet’s vaccination history. Some trips can be prepared in 30 to 60 days, while others require several months. We’ll clarify expected timing early so you can plan with confidence.

-
We regularly support travel to destinations with more complex rules, including Hawaii, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. These trips require earlier planning and precise timing. We’ll explain what’s involved and how far in advance you need to start.
-
In some cases, yes. U.S. re-entry requirements depend on the country you are returning from and your pet’s vaccination history. We confirm what’s required as part of your planning process so there are no surprises.
